Video Portfolio

Latest Film

Carrie Davis was part of the child removal system near the end of the Sixties Scoop. Carrie reconnects to their land, language, and culture with guidance from her uncle Emmett Sack and the community.

This film was made with an Indigenous first audience in mind. While non-Indigenous folks are invited to watch, history and themes are not explicitly laid out for those without prior knowledge. Double M Country is available for screening with a Q&A to address this gap. Please get in touch with me for pricing.

MFA Portfolio Piece

Returning Home was my proposal for the Master of Fine Art in Documentary Media program at Toronto Metropolitan University. I had been working on the idea of documenting my return to my reserve for a year on the recommendation of Dr Collette Jones, who is a mentor and mother to me. Collette put me in touch with Dr Sarah Wright Cardinal, whose Ph.D. dissertation was about Sixties Scoop transracial adoptees who reconnected to their homelands. Cardinal's research recommended that youth who were displaced during this event return to their land, language, and culture. The completed film, Double M Country, is a direct result of that advisement.

Branded Videography

Following Vancouver Island University's brand standards, I worked closely with the Office of Indigenous Education and Engagement to produce videos that highlighted Indigenous programs around campus.

Exposé Piece

In 2018, I visited Whitehorse, Yukon, where I grew up as a Ward of the Crown. The Youth Advocate, Annette King, was investigating allegations from a whistleblower who claimed abuses were happening to youth in care. Annette asked if I wanted to tell my story and collaborated on an opportunity to produce a film on one of the topics which were close to me: ageing out of care. With the help of the Shakat Journal, we produced this film that amplifies the voices of youth and elders and accounts from a group home worker, First Nation chief, and an RCMP retiree.

My First Film

This short video follows Eddy Charlie and Kristin Spray, who have brought Phyllis Webstad’s event, Orange Shirt Day, to Victoria, B.C. Eddy Charlie is a residential school survivor, and Kristin Spray is a non-Indigenous ally. Together, they want to bring awareness to the harm that residential schools caused. When I attended Camosun College, this event touched my heart as I am an intergenerational survivor of residential schools so when Eddy asked if I wanted to produce a video I had to say yes.
